Since the birth of the film,it has been engraved with the brand of comedy.In1895,the French Lumiere brothers' “Tables Turned on the Gardener” had a certain playfulness,from which it can be seen that comedy elements have appeared in early film works.After the development and exploration of the early short comedy,slapstick comedy,the satirical comedy and the praising comedy,Chinese comedy,such as Zhou Xingchi's nonsense comedy films,Feng Xiaogang's New Year comedy,and Ning Hao's small-cost black humor comedy films and so on,has appeared.Comedy films have shown rapid development under the continuous exploration and innovation of groups of directors.In the recent years,with the popularization of Internet media and the rise of the“IP” industry,a large number of comedy films adapted from stage plays,network dramas,and original works have emerged,under the effect of which many cross-border directors have appeared.The “Mahua Fun Age” team,known for its drama,has created the comedy movies with the original drama IP,such as “Goodbye Mr.Loser” in 2015,“Mr.Donkey” in 2016,and “Never Say Die” in 2017.According to the box office and feedback from audiences since the film was released,these films gradually has produced the comedy film phenomenon called “happy twist”.In addition,other cross-border comedy films have also caused great debate in different degrees.This thesis was mainly finished from two perspectives: media convergence and secular carnival.Taking the comedy films directed by cross-border directors in the new century as the research object,this paper at first discusses that cross-border comedy movies are constantly developing and there is more room for the choice of themes under the spurt of the “IP Rush” through the arrival of the media convergenceera.Secondly this thesis analyzes comedy strategies of cross-border comedy films.Many of cross-border comedies are recreated for the traditional comedy.When creating the comedy strategy which can make people laugh,the directors of cross-border comedy add original text features which weaken the characteristics of some films.Finally,this paper demonstrates the comedy spirit of cross-border comedy films stimulated by consumer society beneath the surface of comedy films carnival.
