Interpretation is essentially the process of transmitting information. In order to guarantee the smooth communication between a speaker and their audience,an interpreter is required to convey information in the source language as accurately, completely, and smoothly as possible. As such, the fluency of their output is crucial to the overall quality of interpretation.Areas with unidiomatic language may hinder the complete and smooth expression of the information, and would result in a poor auditory experience for the audience and make it difficult for the audience to understand.Frequent disfluencies can also reduce the credibility of the interpreter. In this paper, the French-Chinese consecutive interpretation during the first 2019 Global 5G Communications Forum mock conference is used as a case study. In a literary review, the author classifies the disfluencies appearing in the interpretation into three categories: filled pauses, repetitions, and self-repairs.Through the case study, the author puts forward four practical strategies, namely: a delayed start of note-taking,the expression of in-depth information as a source language,a higher flexibility in output, and a stronger sense of self-monitoring from the audience's perspective. This paper aims to provide some interpreting strategies for other learners to overcome the same kind of disfluencies and also serve as a case study for other researchers.
