As the carrier of cultural output and the core of cultural industry development, cultural products are of great significance for China to improve its industrial structure, promote cultural identity and enhance its international competitiveness. There are many problems and disadvantages behind the slow growth of China’s cultural products export. In order to better analyze the growth mode of China’s cultural products export,we should conduct a deep analysis from a micro perspective. In this paper, based on the new-new trade theory, using China’s cultural products export data from 2007 to 2016,sums up the stage characteristics of the export of Chinese cultural products, found that cultural products exports heavily rely on the intensive margin, the extensive margin plays little role, unbalanced development between various departments, the number is out of step with the volume of trade and volatile constitutes the basic characteristics of China’s cultural products exports. The export of visual arts and handicraft products accounts for the largest proportion of the overall export of cultural products, while the export of design and creative service products has a declining trend, which indicates that China’s cultural product export structure is still dominated by labor-intensive products, and the export advantage mainly depends on factor endowment and labor resources. On this basis, using the panel data of China and ten major importing countries, found that the gross domestic product, the gross domestic product of the importing country and the level of science and technology have a promoting effect on the export of cultural products, while geographical distance,cross-border trade costs and cultural differences have a restraining effect on the export of cultural products. The gross domestic product has a more obvious promoting effect, indicating that the economic growth of exporting countries is more conducive to the export of domestic products. The inhibiting effect of cultural difference is obvious, which indicates that cultural difference is the most important factor hindering the export of cultural products in China. Finally, according to the above research results, this paper puts forward countermeasures and Suggestions for improving the export competitiveness of China’s cultural products, such as consolidating the industrial foundation, emphasizing top-level design, paying attention to technological innovation, and enriching the forms of expression.
