At present,many conservatories of music and universities in the world have successively opened jazz piano related courses and majors.Due to its unique teaching value,jazz piano teaching has been accepted and applied by music educators all over the world.However,the teaching of jazz piano in China is in its infancy,which needs further development and improvement.Most of those who offer this course and major are conservatories of music.The study mainly investigates the Current situation of jazz piano teaching in domestic conservatories of music.Questionnaires and interviews were used to investigate students who are major in jazz piano and teachers who teach jazz piano in nine conservatories of music,so as to find the problems in the teaching and explore the feasible solutions.Therefore,it can play a role in improving the jazz piano teaching in domestic conservatories of music,and promote the development of jazz piano teaching in China,so that jazz piano teaching can fully realize its due value.It is found that the teaching environment and teaching level of jazz piano in domestic conservatories of music have been greatly improved,and the whole development is on the rise:1.The overall situation of courses related to jazz piano is relatively good,and each college has more perfect teaching hardware facilities and excellent teaching staff;2.The core of teaching goal is students' personal development needs,which is conducive to the realization of students' self-life value;3.The teaching contents are relatively systematic and flexible.Teachers not only attach importance to the systematic teaching of jazz piano performance,but also attach more importance to the arrangement of teaching contents according to students' individual learning interests.4.The use of teaching methods is varied,and is combined with the domestic music education and students' actual learning;In the process of teaching,teachers pay more attention to the cultivation of students' comprehensive musicalabilities,such as musical creation ability,musical auditory ability,rhythmic ability,etc.attach more importance to personalized teaching,and focus on helping students establish their learning interests and development direction.At the same time,the study also found that there are some deficiencies in jazz piano teaching,mainly reflected in the following aspects: 1.Some colleges and universities still need to further improve their major and curriculum settings,and the teaching of relevant courses is not closely connected with the teaching of major course.2.Most students seldom participate in performance practice,listen to live jazz performances and pay attention to relevant music culture in the learning process;3.In terms of teaching and research,there is currently a lack of research on jazz piano teaching,and there is a lack of cooperation and exchange in teaching and research among various institutions.4.Due to the shortage of popularity of jazz education and jazz piano teaching in China's schools and society,the jazz piano teaching in conservatories of music has some problems in connecting and transition of teaching.In view of the shortcomings existing in the current teaching,the author puts forward the corresponding improvement measures.
