A Report On The Simulated Interpreting Of "Xi Jinping's Keynote Speech At The FOCAC Beijing Summit 2018"

China has a long close relationship with Africa and it has a solid foundation.Interpreting plays an irreplaceable role in the frequent exchanges between China and Africa.The author selects the keynote speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of FOCAC Beijing Summit as the material of simulated simultaneous interpreting.By participating in this simulated interpreting event,the author aims to enlarge vocabulary of diplomatic field and improve interpreting ability.Further,the author intends to explore the interpreting difficulties and challenges on diplomatic occasions and discuss the types of interpreting mistakes and underlying reasons.Finally,the author ends in putting forward some effective principles and skills of diplomatic interpreting.The interpreting report consists of a task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion part among which the case analysis is the main part.In the case analysis part,the author presents typical examples to illustrate effective principles and skills for simultaneous interpreting.The content of the interpreting is the diplomatic interpreting of a Chinese leader's speech of which one of the difficulties is that Chinese leaders often include terminology with strong Chinese features.In the case analysis,the author discusses the principles of diplomatic interpreting and how to interpret the terminology with strong Chinese features and hopes to provide some valuable enlightenment to future interpreters.
