A C-E Translation Practice Report On Application For Heart Of China Quality Funding Project For Education

Application for Heart of China Quality Funding Project for Education is from the cooperative funding project for education between Soul of Qiang Culture Communication Center of Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County of China and Misereor Public Welfare Organization of Germany from 2016 to 2019.It is a material entrusted by the Qiang Soul Culture Communication Center and translated by the author during postgraduate study.This material is a scientific and technological type of non-literary texts.This paper is a report on Chinese-English translation practice.Guided by the three rules of Skopos Theory and based on the linguistic characteristics of the source text,this paper analyzes the source text from the perspective of lexis,syntax and discourse.The author attempts to combine theoretical analysis with practical analysis,and makes full use of theoretical guidance to solve the problems and difficulties in the translation of scientific and technological texts.This translation practice report introduces the translation process,including pre-translation preparations,translation procedures and post-translation summary.Moreover,typical cases from Application for Heart of China Quality Funding Project for Education are analyzed.Translation strategies and methods such as omission,literal and liberal translation are adopted to guide the translation of words concerning education and poverty alleviation based on Skopos Rule.Besides,amplification,passive voice,integration,explanatory translation,readjustment of word order and focus permutation are used to guide the translation of non-subject and long complicated sentences based on Coherence Rule.And amplification,omission,syntactic linearity and syntactic reverse are applied to guide the translation of declarative and colloquial expressions based on Fidelity Rule.By analyzing the translation activities above,the accuracy and readability of translation can be improved at linguistic and theoretical levels.The content and form of this translation practice report are relatively fresh,which can provide reference for scholars who are engaged in the translation of scientific and technological texts.
