With the deepening of economic globalization and new technological revolution,a large number of industries and technologies emerge. In consideration of the period of transition and development in China, the introduction and research of new technologies play an important role in economic restructuring.Virtual reality technology represents a new wave of new media development,so we should pay attention to the translation of such texts. However, due to the fact that most of the science and technology in this field are concentrated in practice, the lack of theoretical books will not help people well understand advanced science and technology in China to a certain extent. In 2017,the book Experience on Demand was published, which introduced numerous virtual reality experiments and principles. But so far there is no Chinese translation text.Based on the above considerations, the translator started to translate some contents of Experience on Demand. This paper selects the main contents of Chapter ? and Chapter ? of the original text as translation materials, then discusses the three principles of Skopos Theory, namely, the principle of Skopos, coherence and fidelity, the specific application in the E-C translation of scientific and technological texts, and states how to adopt specific translation methods.Skopos theory holds that translation is a purposeful activity, and translation practice should focus on the purpose of translation. The purpose of translating scientific and technological texts is to popularize science and technology in concise language and to provide objective and effective information. Therefore, under normal circumstances, the translation of scientific and technological texts should be centered on Chinese readers to keep the main idea of the original text, various translation methods and techniques should be flexibly selected so that Chinese readers can effectively understand the principles, experimental process, and the positive and negative effects of new technology on human beings. The thesis mainly includes three parts:introduction, main body and conclusion. The introduction part introduces the research background, significance and structure of this thesis. The main body consists of three chapters:The first chapter introduces the theoretical basis in detail and points out the rationality of teleology in guiding scientific and technological texts for information users. The second chapter analyzes the translation materials, including the characteristics of scientific and technological texts, the content and particularity of translation materials, which lays a foundation for the analysis of the third chapter. The third chapter discusses the specific application of the three principles of Skopos Theory in the selected paragraphs of Experience on Demand and the choice of translation methods, with a view to providing references for the translation research and practice of scientific and technological texts in the future. The conclusion summarizes the whole text, reiterating the important content of teleology and the three principles guiding the information-based text which also points out the shortcomings and the room for improvement in the end.
