A Report On The Translation Of The Fourth Age: Smart Robots,Conscious Computers,and The Future Of Humanity(Excerpt From The Ninth Chapter)

The new round of industrial revolution marked by artificial intelligence technology and robot application has brought great changes to the contemporary society.These intelligent products almost affect all walks of life and the research on technologies concerned with artificial intelligence and robot has important value for developing the human society.The translator selected part of the ninth chapter of the second part of the Fourth Age: Smart Robots,Conscious Computers,and the Future of Humanity by Byron Reese as the translation material.The source material is mainly about the impact of artificial intelligence and robot application on human society,especially on human employment.This translation practice report consists of four parts,including task description,process description,case analysis and the practical experience.The first part is mainly an introduction of the source of the translation material,the author of the source text,the main idea of the source text and the meaning of the translation task.The second part includes three parts,that is,preparation steps before translation,selected approaches to solve difficulties in translation as well as ways of proofreading after translation.The third part mainly analyzes such difficulties encountered in translation as how to translate some particular words,sentences and figure of speeches.The fourth part summarizes the author's experience related to this translation practice.
