As a common and special physiological and psychological phenomenon, dream not only embellishes people's daily life, but also has close relationship with literature. It'is the creative inspiration and material of many writers. The dream literature in the pre Qin and Han Dynasties is not only the text of recording dreams in the early stage of our country, but also the source of the development of dream literature in the future. This paper mainly studies the literature works related to "dream" in the pre-Qin period, focusing on the unique role of "dream" in the text, the symbolic meaning of dream image and the artistic expression of dream. This paper explores the influence of social forms and cultural trends of thought on dream literature in different historical periods, and the longitudinal overall observation of literary works in different historical periods to explore the changing process of dream literature. The introduction part is divided into three parts, which mainly introduces the origin of the topic, the current research situation of dream culture and dream literature in China,as well as the research methods and research focus of this paper. The first chapter mainly studies people's understanding of dreams and the development and evolution of dream concepts from the pre-Qin to the Han Dynasty, specifically discusses the attitude and perception of dreams of ancestors from the Yin and Shang Dynasties to the Han Dynasty, and analyzes the development reasons and characteristics of dream concepts in different periods combined with social forms and cultural background. The oracle bone inscriptions in the Yin and Shang Dynasties were the earliest dream texts in China, and the number of "asking evil" was more than"asking good".It can be seen that most of the people in the Shang Dynasty regarded dreams as omens. In the Zhou Dynasty, there were full-time dreamers who classified dreams.Compared with the Shang Dynasty, the horror of dreams has subsided, and people's understanding of dreams is more rational.During the Warring States period, hundreds of schools of thought were contending. All the scholars talked about their views on dreams.Basically, they explain the generation of "dream" from the perspective of physiology and psychology, rather than following the orders of predecessors regarding dreams as gods or predicting future signs. Therefore, all the scholars have a tendency to de mystify dreams.Wang Chong of the Han Dynasty combined medical knowledge, discussed dreams from the perspective of physiology and pathology, and resolutely opposed the superstition of dream omens.Wang Fu created the first systematic treatise on dreams in China. The second chapter mainly summarizes the dream related texts in the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties historical biography literature, and analyzes its type characteristics. From the pre Qin Dynasty to the Han Dynasty, the description of dreams in historical prose is in the same line, taking narration as the primary purpose, basically following the mode of "dream interpretation dream experience",mainly taking politics as the core and enlightenment as the purpose. This paper divides the dreams recorded in the historical prose of the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties into three types:the dream of omen, the dream of retribution and the dream of feeling life.On this basis,it focuses on exploring the uniqueness of the dreams recorded in Zuozhuan and Shiji. The main content of the third chapter is the poems and poems related to dreams in the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties. From the pre Qin Dynasty to the Han Dynasty, from the book of songs to the Nineteen Ancient Poems, the emotional effect of dreams in poems has been gradually enhanced, and the literary color of dream description has become more and more strong, which is no longer a subsidiary of politics, history or philosophy. In terms of Ci and Fu,the image of "Wushan Goddess"created in Song Yu's "Ode to the high Tang Dynasty" and "Ode to the goddess" has become an eternal classic in the history of literature. In Han Dynasty, the elements of dream are increasing, especially the emergence of dream Fu,which represents the maturity of dream as a literary theme. The fourth chapter is the dream fable in Zhuangzi and Liezi. The fables of dreams in Zhuangzi and Liezi illustrate the deep understanding of life and death, virtual and real, matter and me by virtue of the characteristics of dreams like reality and virtual reality. At the same time, both Zhuangzi and Liezi are good at using fictional and comparative techniques to create dream fables, but Zhuangzi mostly uses dreams to connect context and dialogue in dreams to speak for itself, while Liezi mostly focuses on dreams, and highlights its theory by confusing the differences between dreams and reality. The fifth chapter mainly analyzes the cultural meaning of dreams and the influence of later generations. This chapter summarizes six kinds of dream images and their symbolic meanings in literary works. At the same time,it also combs the profound influence of the dream literature of the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties on the later literature development. On the one hand, some dream examples in the literary works of the Pre-Qin and Han dynasties have been adopted by later generations of literati because of their unique artistic charm, such as "Zhuang Zhou's dream of butterfly","Huaxu's dream","Wushan's goddess" and so on,which have frequently appeared in the poems of later generations and enriched the literature material bank of our country;on the other hand, the dream literary works of the Pre-Qin and Han dynasties have also been adopted by later generations of literati In terms of creative thinking and structural mode,it provides a wider space for the development of poetry, songs and novels.
