In recent years, along with the development of the world shipping industry, the problem of piracy has been affecting the development of the shipping industry, more and more attention has been paid to the study of pirate culture. In this report, the author translated the book I Sailed with the Chinese Pirates, which is of great significance and value to those engaged in the shipping industry and domestic research on the history of piracy,In view of the differences in language characteristics and expressions between English and Chinese,it is almost impossible to achieve complete correspondence between words and sentences in the process of translation. Therefore, from the view of readers, the translation should focus on the content of the source text.Words that do not appear in the source text, with implied meaning, can be appropriately added to make the translation more professional and accurate. Therefore,in order to be faithful to the source text, amplification is appropriately used to enhance the readability of the translation.Through case analysis, this translation practice report focuses on the application of the amplification in I Sail with Chinese Pirates from English to Chinese, and analyzes lots of examples in the text.Through the translation of nouns, verbs, adjectives, subordination and coordination, modal particles and words with tense meaning, the author strives to make the translation clear, accurate and fluent.
