| This report focuses on the Chinese translation of complicated sentences in maritime news.First of all,features of complicated sentences are analyzed,which means different kinds of compound and complicated sentences including various grammatical relations and some spcial sentence patterns.Then,based on previous researchers,a definition of complicated sentences is offered in this report.It is a sentence which contains more than twenty words and more than two independent clauses including some subordinate clauses,and perhaps some special sentence patterns as well.This report is based on the kernel sentence put forward by Nida,and deep meanings of the sentences are explored.And then,through four types of translation strategies,namely:amplification,omission,inversion and conversion,complicated sentences in maritime news are translated to conform to the target language readers'thinking and reading habits as well as to understand the maritime news better. |
