With the continuous development of international shipping industry,the problem of reducing black carbon emissions has been brought into focus.The materials of this translation practice are drawn from an IMO report titled Investigation of Appropriate Control measures(Abatement Technologies)to Reduce Black Carbon Emissions from International Shipping.Aiming at reducing black carbon emissions caused by vessels,this report puts forward some appropriate alternative options.This study report is of great significance to protect the marine ecological environment and promote the development of shipping industry.In the translation process,the author finds that as has a high frequency of occurrence,and the part of speech and function of as is multiple.In terms of the part of speech,as can be relative pronoun,conjunction and preposition.In terms of the function,as can form non-restrictive attributive clause,adverbial clause of time and cause,subject and object complement.With the multi-function of as,the translation of as deserves attention.Guided by the theory of semantic translation and communicative translation,this report analyzes the specific translation of as by using such translation methods as literal tranalstion,amplification,repetition,inversion and division.The translation of as includes demonstrative pronoun,Bikuang phrase,time preposition,casual conjunctions,judgement verb,pivotal structure and Bei-construction.It is hoped that this paper can provide reference for the translation of maritime study report in the future.
