On Difficulties And Coping Strategies Of Webcast Simultaneous Interpreting Of Product Launch Events Under Lasswell's 5W Model

Drawing from Lasswell's 5W model,the author discusses the difficulties and coping strategies of webcast simultaneous interpreting of product launch events based on the corpus of two versions of the 2019 Apple Special Event,hoping to enhance people's understanding of it.Based on the literature on the difficulties of TV simultaneous interpreting,the author discusses the difficulties of webcast simultaneous interpreting of product launch events from the five essential elements of the "5W model":(1)Disseminators:Simultaneous interpreters for a webcast of product launch events should be both translators and media workers.(2)Content:Interpreters should not only keep their output and related images in sync but also change their tones appropriate to different situations.Besides,because organizers would not give away the information about the new products,it is hard for interpreters to prepare terminology in advance.(3)Media:Interpreters are subject to external interference and also have to allocate cognitive resources to cooperate with staff.(4)Audience:Due to a broad spectrum of off-scene audiences,interpreters face difficulties in changing their interpreting strategies immediately according to audience feedback.(5)Communication effect:Viewers can watch the webcast repeatedly,which means interpreters' performance can be examined many times,and thus increasing interpreters' psychological pressure.Next,the author collects audiences' comments on both Bilibili and ZOL and then adopts qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze audiences' feedback.Finally,the author comes up with suggestions according to the difficulties and audiences' comments:Interpreters should be equipped with media workers' skills,accumulate the related terminology,and have an objective attitude toward the negative comments and the like.Besides,network platforms and the media should also shoulder their responsibilities to ensure an excellent communication effect and enhance viewers' understanding of webcast simultaneous interpreting.
