Shi Shaoshen is a well-known composer in late Ming Dynasty.His achievement of Qu has won the reputation which made him another master compared with Shen Jing who represents the school of Wujiang and Liang Chenyu who represents the school of Kunshan.Shi Shaoshen's representative works is The Collection of Shadows of Flowers in Autumn Water Hut which can be divided into five volumes.The first four volumes of the collection are Qu and the fifth volume is Ci.This paper is mainly study Qu in order to promote people's interests about Shi's Qu.The introduction part mainly reviews the research status of Shi Shaoshen's Qu and expounds the significance and purpose of the selection of The Collection of Shadows of Flowers in Autumn Water Hut,and briefly summarizes the contents and methods of this paper.The first chapter introduces Shi Shaoshen's life that mainly analyze it about two time periods which distinguished by the life of seclusion and the life without seclusion.The main point of this chapter's writing is about the reasons why he had make up his mind to be a hermit.The second chapter mainly expounds the formation and the characteristics of the collection.In the part of the formation of the collection,we mainly discuss the editions and the styles.In the part of the characteristics of the collection,we mainly discuss the cycles of songs which have been used in the collection and the prefaces and the postscripts which have been integrated into the cycles of songs.At last we discuss the formation of north Qu and south Qu and the application of the Qu cards and so forth.The third chapter lists and analyses the subject matters of Shi Shaoshen's Qu.Since the collection have both Shi's Ci and Qu,in this paper we just discuss his Qu.The themes of all his Qu are roughly divided into the following six parts:the songs about objects,the songs about sceneries,the songs about feelings,the songs about festivals,the songs about sending them to people,and others.With the specific examples of Qu,the readers could have rational cognition about the collection.The fourth chapter discusses the artistic features of Shi Shaoshen's Qu.Firstly,it expounds that Shi's Qu could be presented with all kinds of styles and all of the styles could be defined as the style of comprehension;secondly,it analyses the prefaces and the postscripts have been integrated into the cycles of the songs and be presented with the style of clearance and lasting;finally,it discusses the different types of styles which can only be realized by the condition of hermits.The conclusion part summarizes the main points of the research on Shi Shaoshen's The Collection of Shadows of Flowers in Autumn Water Hut,and briefly expounds the research significance and value of Shi's Qu.
