Study On Du Guichi And His The Collection Of Tong Hua Pavilion

Du Guichi,an immortal of Baling in the late Qing dynasty,was known as the Confucian sect in Hunan for his profound knowledge of Confucian classics and literature.At present,there is a considerable gap between the academic research on him and his actual achievements and status,so it is quite necessary to make a comprehensive and in-depth research on his family,life,friends and writings to fill the void.His handed-down documents "The series of Tong Hua Pavilion" are composed of six kinds of books,among which "The Collection of Tong Hua Pavilion" is a collection of prose,which is the outstanding representative of his literary achievements.The collection includes a total of 120 article,such as Shu,Lun,Shuo,Yi,Xu,Ba,Shu,Zhuan,Ji,epitaph,epitaph,sacrifice……It is not only an important text of literary research,but also an important document of mining his thoughts.It can be found from his collection of Tong Hua Pavilion that there are some thoughts of practical use,and he gives academic thoughts of Han-Learning and Song-Learning equal value.His practical social thoughts are reflected in his conservative political stance and his advocacy of the preventative governance and the simultaneous promotion of agriculture and commerce in the economy,as well as the idea of people-oriented.His moderate views on academic thoughts of Han-Learning and Song-Learning reflected that he not only absorbed the study of Zhu Xi but also went into Zheng's study of Confucian classics.Besides,in the historical development of the Han studies in Hunan,he always tried to avoid the sectarian,and exerted a great influence on the modern academic outlook of Hunan with academic research and talent training.His Collection is collected and compiled by later generations with quantity was put before quality.His writings with the highest achievement is the one of expressing happiness and sadness based on his unique and profound life experience,such as the biography and funeral oration for family members ?correspondence exchanges between friends and some preface with both reason and affection etc.His writing is good at describing sadness and emotion,although learning from not only the master Wu Minshu,his fellow townsman,but also Han Yu and Gui Youguang,but his idea and layout of writings are original and unique.His writing style shows both art of parallelism and intricate inconformity in a beautiful and fascinating variety of forms.The inner emotion is expressed between the lines by using the function words of rendering sentiments.Benefiting from his profound literary accomplishment and influenced by the school of Tongcheng and Xiangxiang,Du Guichi makes good use of those function words and concise rhyme of notional words in his writings.Simply put,although enjoying the reputation as a part of the Ru-Lin Biography,his prose are also good enough to be included in the Literature Biography.
