A Report On The Chinese-English Translation Of 2018 China Language Service Industry Development Report(Excerpt)

Recent years have witnessed an increase in the overall scale of global language service.The language service industry has maintained sustained and stable growth.In that context,2018 China Language Service Industry Development Report released by Translators Association of China firstly made further surveys and comprehensive analysis on the development of China's language service industry from four aspects: industry,talents,technology and standard.This translation report selected preface and the development and analysis of language service since reform and opening up as the source text to translate and made relevant analysis,aiming to introduce to the world the current situation of Chinese language service industries and promote the development and innovation of the language service industry.The translation report mainly included five parts.The first part introduced the background of the source text and the purpose and significance of the report.The second part made a brief description of source text and target readers.As an informative text,the source text focused on content and had strong logic and direct expressions.The third part introduced the whole translation process from three aspects: preparation,translation process and quality assurance.The fourth part analyzed the translation from the lexical,syntactical and textual levels.According to characteristics of an informative text and different features of words,sentences and texts,the translator adopted corresponding translation methods so as to transform information completely and accurately.The last part made a conclusion on the problems and gains that the translator met during the translation process.Through translating and writing this translation report,the author further understood the development direction of the language service industry and the stylistic features and language style of the industrial report,as well as the vocabulary characteristics and sentence structures of informative texts.Meanwhile,through reading relevant theories and literature,the author further mastered the functional equivalence theory and the text type theory,which improved her understanding of translation process and her translation ability.At the same time,in the process of translation and analysis,the author found that she was somewhat insensitive to translation phenomena and not good at putting translation theories into practice.These problems would spur translators to work harder to learn translation theories and skills,and then put them into translation practice to further improve her translation level.
