The development of digital and information technology has given rise to the audio revolution and triggered the booming of podcast.The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism has published an industry research report--So You Have a Podcast?.The author who is also a practitioner on audio products,conducted interviews with staff at four broadcasting companies and four newspapers from four countries,in hope of gaining insight on the podcast phenomenon in media organizations,and offer some suggestions for other ventures into this business.The translator chose this piece of writing for personal interest and for its value as a research report.This translation report is a summary concerning the translation practice of So You Have a Podcast.The problems that surfaced in the process of translation are as follows:(1)pronoun and other tricky words at lexical level;(2)passive voice and complex sentence at syntactical level;(3)loose structure at textual level.This translation report is guided by theorist Katharina Reiss' text typology,which divides text into three types: expressive,informative and operative,together with corresponding translation strategies.The translator drew up her translation principles,namely to make sure the target text is accurate,readable,concise and formal.Combined with examples,the translator summarized her translation strategies specific to different problems,such as addition,deletion,explanation,recasting and integration.This report is intended to be of some use for relevant translation and research while improving the translator's translation skills.
