A Simulated Interpreting Practice Report On Sport Accord 2019 Under The Interpretive Theory Of Translation

This report is based on a simulated consecutive interpretation of the author.The material of this practice is selected from a penal discussion of Sport Accord 2019,entitled Health Accord:Wearable Sensors Pros and Cons for Athletes.Sport Accord,also known as World Sport and Business Summit,is a top-class sports summit,focusing on driving positive changes in the sports field internationally.Moreover,wearable sensor has become a trending topic and the brilliant example of the Internet of Thing(IOT)movement.Application of wearable sensor in sports field and its advantages and disadvantages have been mainly discussed in this panel session.The Interpretive Theory of Translation,born in France in the late 1960s,is one of the most important theories in interpretation study.The Interpretive Theory holds that the interpreter should express the thoughts and meaning that speakers or authors want to deliver,not the language form of the original text,and also mentions that translation is not a simple decoding process from the source language to the target language.The school also puts forward the famous triangle model,which is "comprehension,devebalization,and reformulation".Taking the practice of the simulated consecutive interpretation as an analysis object,the three steps including pre-interpretation,while-interpretation,and post-interpretation have been discussed in this report.In the meanwhile,with the help of Interpretive Theory,this paper analyzes difficulties encountered in the interpreting practice from the aspects of"vocabulary,sentence,and re-expression".Afterwards,corresponding coping strategies and feasible improvement plans have been put forward.The author finds that the knowledge from different field has been mentioned by the speakers,which requires the interpreter to make reasonable guess on the basis of subject and encyclopedic knowledge and the information the speaker delivers.Besides,several guests give the speeches at a fast speed with loads of information and strong accents.Therefore,it is a conundrum for the interpreter to grasp the sense and complete the interpretation under the condition of intensive information and the accent.So,in the daily life,the interpreters should prepare well before interpreting,accumulate encyclopedic knowledge.On the spot,the interpreter should not try to hear every single word,but grasp the sense.In the phase of re-expression,the interpreter needs to "recreate" their words to convey the accurate meaning of the speaker by applying different interpreting strategies.As the sports flourishes across the world,the author hopes that this report can provide a reference for the interpreting activities of similar international sports events.Meanwhile,she can also hone the interpreting skills to provide better service to the clients in the future.
