Higashino Keigo is an active mystery writer in the contemporary Japanese literary world.In 2006,his representative work "the dedication of criminal suspect X" won the 134 th naoki award,which made him famous and set off a frenzy in Japan and even the whole east Asia.Among the works written by Higashino Keigo,the detective novels of social school is the most popular and influential one.These works which focus on social issues and human nature are closely related to social reality,so in the process of reading,readers can not only get entertainment,but also have a deep sense of resonance.Therefore,the detective novels of social school is popular with readers.But Higashino Keigo is not the pioneer in the field of social fiction,he is a new one.Seicho Matsumoto is the originator of Japanese social mystery novels,which has epoch-making significance in the history of mystery novels.Higashino Keigo once said that Seicho Matsumoto was the writer who had the greatest influence on his writing career.Therefore,this paper will make a comparison between Higashino Keigo and Seicho Matsumoto's social mystery novels,and study what kind of inheritance and development Keigo has based on his ancestor Seicho Matsumoto.This article consists of the following parts.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the research motivation,advance research,research purpose,research significance and research methods.The second chapter introduces the Japanese mystery novels can be divided into three stages,how did the detective novels of social school form and its characteristics.Chapter three makes a comparative analysis of the causes of crime and the characters in the works of Higashino Keigo and Seicho Matsumoto.Among them,the root causes of crime are the war factor,the economic system,the power factor and the system malpractice.The part of character image mainly analyzes the female image.Chapter four analyzes the writing techniques of Higashino Keigo and Seicho Matsumoto from the perspectives of timing,structure and perspective.This paper adopts the method of comparative analysis,trying to explore the inheritance and development of Higashino Keigo on the basis of his predecess,Seicho Matsumoto by comparing the characteristics of the social school mystery novels of them,hoping to provide some references for future researchers.
