In the tense and chaotic political situation and the relative cultural environment between the old and the new,Nanshexiangji inherited from Nanshe.Despite the ups and downs of Nanshexiangji,it has been maintained for nearly 26 years.It is a literary society with extensive influence in the first half of the 20thcentury.Its main purposes of the community are:the political promotion of democracy and paying attention to integrity;literature on the root of Chinese national learning and admiring Song poetry.Its main activity is Cultural Gathering,among which the formal one is held on the Shangsi Festival and the Double Ninth Festival every year.According to statistics,at least 23 official Gatherings were held with more than 192 participants,usually at the site of Society,Society members'residences,local famous gardens and scenic spots.They are mainly from 9 provinces across the country,with the largest number of Hunanese.In addition,many of those members are close teachers and friends,which to a certain extent promotes the development of the Cultural Gatherings.Literary creation activities are often held during Gatherings,especially the poetry creation.The Cultural Gatherings has produced a large number of poems mainly related to the current events,natural attractions and courtyard,personal state of mind and aspirations,as well as true and emotional intimacy between friends.Its artistic tendency is characterized by the combination of lyricism and narrative,which mainly reflects in the use of images in The Songs of Chu to express the ideals of life and concerns about home and nation,in the good use of allusions as well as the implicit charm of language.Besides,there is rich argumentation in the poem,which embodies critical rationalism with delicate feelings.
