"The law is not fixed" is an important aesthetic thought of Qing Dynasty painter Shi Tao.This article believes that the main value of guiding the innovative practice of landscape painting lies in its emphasis on the active role of the creative subject.Based on this,the author first analyzed the causes of Shi Tao’s aesthetic thoughts and the core categories of his thoughts,and analyzed the "The law is not fixed" to be specifically embodied as the internal constraints of the creative subject and creative object.Secondly,the author takes copying,sketching,and creative practice as examples to explore the impact of "The law is not fixed" on his own innovative practice of landscape painting.In the end,the author analyzes the practical significance of this idea to the innovative practice of contemporary landscape painting from two levels of knowledge and method.The conclusion of this article is that the meaning of"the law is not fixed" lies in guiding the inheritors of landscape painting to exert the subjective initiative of the creative subject on the basis of mastering the techniques of the predecessors.In the mutual conversion between "youfa" and "wufa",we should seek ourselves expression language for landscape painting creation and explore the independent aesthetic value Contemporary landscape painting standards.
