Nowadays, college students are paying more and more attention to their external self-image,which has obviously become a phenomenon and trend. However, excessive pursuit of external image also leads to a variety of problems, such as body image disorder, anorexia nervosa, anxiety, etc.,which is not conducive to the healthy development of college students. This paper aims to explore the moderating effects of gender and grade on body image,self-esteem and social anxiety of college students by studying the status quo of body image,self-esteem and social anxiety of college students and the differences in demographic variables, and to propose feasible Suggestions for improving the social anxiety of college students. In this paper, college students were taken as the research object through the questionnaire survey method, and 543 questionnaires were distributed online by the questionnaire star software. After eliminating the invalid questionnaires such as short answering time and unqualified reverse test,502 valid samples were collected, with an effective rate of 92.45%.There were 231 males(46.02%)and 271 females(53.98%).There were 61 freshmen(12.15%),72 sophomores(14.34%),60 juniors(11.95%),142 seniors(28.29%),and 167 masters(33.27%).In this study, the body image state scale prepared by Cash(1986),self-esteem scale prepared by Rosenberg(1965)and interaction anxiety scale prepared by Leary(1983)were used to measure the status quo and relationship among body image,self-esteem and social anxiety of college students. The results are as follows:(1)The body image of college students is at the above average level, with no significant gender difference, but significant grade difference.(2)The self-esteem of college students is at the above average level, with no significant gender difference, but there is a significant grade difference. The self-esteem of junior students is significantly higher than that of other grades, but there is no significant difference between other grades.(3)The social anxiety of college students is at an upper level, and there is no significant difference in gender or grade.(4)There was a significant negative correlation between body image and social anxiety in college students(r=-.35,p<0.01).Body image was positively correlated with self-esteem(r=.50,p<0.01).There was a significant negative correlation between self-esteem and social anxiety(r=-.40,p<0.01).(5)College students' self-esteem plays a part in mediating the influence of body image and social anxiety, and the mediating effect accounts for 42%of the total effect.(6)Gender has no moderating effect on college students' body image,self-esteem and social anxiety.(7)Grades play a moderating role between body image and self-esteem and between body image and social anxiety in college students, but grades do not play a moderating role between self-esteem and social anxiety.Overall, today's college students growing concern for private external image is higher and higher, and students' social anxiety level is higher, can influence and guide students to establish a more positive body image, and through the influence college students' body image and self-esteem level to improve the current situation of social anxiety, and pay attention to the priorities of different measures for different grade.
