A Report On The Translation Of Social And Environmental Dimensions Of Organizations And Supply Chains(Excerpts)

From the perspective of the text typology theory,this report discussed the significance of the theory to the translation practice of informative texts,based on the translation practice of Social and Environmental Dimensions of Organizations and Supply Chains.This book is about the international supply chains,illustrating the impact of environmental and social factors in global supply chains and industry networks.It belongs to economic management texts with concise and rigorous writing style,and is content-focused.According to Reiss' text typology theory,the book which the translator chose should be classified into the informative text category.Therefore,it is particularly vital for the translator to accurately convey the information of the source text when doing the translation work.Drawing on the three requirements of the informative text translation,namely accuracy,completeness,and logicality and two criteria of the translation of content-focused texts: one being invariant transfer of information and the other being oriented to the target language,the translator applied the text typology theory in translation.From the lexical,syntactical,and textual levels respectively,the translator proposed specific translation strategies to meet the requirements of informative texts according to the differences between English and Chinese language.Text typology is a systematic translation theory,which is helpful for translators to choose appropriate translation strategies and offer guidance for translation practice.The source text of this report belongs to the informative text,and the translator adopts translation methods such as addition,omission,conversion and annotation.The practice results show that the text typology theory can thoroughly analyze the functions and language features of texts,thus helping translators improve the quality of translation.
