A Report On The Translation Of Informative Texts From The Perspective Of Text Typology Theory

Times are changing and technology progresses by leaps and bounds.The brand-new technological revolution dominated by Artificial Intelligence and robotics is deeply affecting and changing the world.Against the background of the revolution,it's crucial for enterprises and individuals to get a grip on the disruptive technologies.This report probes into the translation of informative texts from the view of Text Typology Theory proposed by the German functional theorist Katharina Reiss,based on the English-Chinese translation of the three chapters of the technical and commercial book titled Future Proof: How to Get Your Business Ready for the Next Disruption.The text involves plenty of technical and commercial terms,and the overall language style is quite formal with the aim of transmitting information,which is consistent with the typical characteristics of informative texts.In her Text Typology Theory,Reiss points out that the classification of text type depends on the function of the text and believes that the text type plays a decisive role in choosing the strategy of translation.The informative texts focus on transmitting the content in a complete and accurate manner.Meanwhile,the language is in strong logic.Therefore,the translation requires invariance in transfer of the content and seeks to preserve accuracy,completeness and logicality of the source text.This report is composed of four parts: description of the translation task,description of the translation process,case analysis and summary of the translation.Firstly,the translation project is briefly introduced,and the characteristics of the text are analyzed.Then the examples are listed to explore the informative texts from the two aspects: the grasp of accuracy,completeness and logicality in the translation of informative texts and translation of long and complex sentences.The author wishes the translation practice and the findings and lessons obtained in the translation process can be helpful for the translation of similar texts.
