The formal expression and emotional expression of dot,line and plane elements are the basic creation language in black and white woodcut prints,which is an abstract expression of representational realism,a summary of depicting objects,and an abstraction of the objective world and a sublimation of the subjective world.The application and expression of dot,line and plane elements in black and white woodcut has irreplaceable artistic value.This article focuses on the study of the formal language of black and white woodblock prints.By analyzing the formation and historical achievements of black and white woodcuts,as well as the personalized expression of dot,line,and surface language.By analyzing the formation of black and white woodcuts,historical achievements,and the individual expression of dot,line,and surface language,the author aims to enrich the relevant theoretical research results of Sicilian prints and fill the gaps in the study of the uniqueness of the formal language of Sicilian black and white woodcuts,and It also can provide ideas and methods for printmaking creation by related artists.In addition,the author analyzes the expression forms and styles of the dot and line language in modern black and white woodblock prints,and sorts out the different forms and styles of black and white woodcut prints in different periods,summarizes the characteristic expression of black and white woodcuts in Sichuan on the use of point,line and surface elements,which can make us deeply understand the unique essence of black and white woodcuts in Sichuan,and help us to inherit this unique essence in the future printmaking,and improve the understanding and refinement of the creative language.The first chapter is an overview of black and white woodcut prints in Sichuan from the development of black and white woodcut prints and black and white woodcut aesthetic characteristics to summarize two aspects.In the second chapter,the author classifies and analyzes the creation language of modern and contemporary representative black and white woodblock prints based on the theory of point,line and surface elements,which explores the forms and emotional expressions of point elements,line elements,and surface elements in the creation of black and white woodblock prints,and analyzes the composition and woodcut forms of the creative elements and the language conversion relationship between the two.In the last chapter,the author summarizes the formal language features of black and white woodblock prints in Sichuan,starting from the close combination of dot,line and plane language and emotion and the high unification of dot,line and plane language and knife method,and then analyzes the representative works of black-and-white woodcut in each period,and summarizes the personalized expression of dot,line and plane language in black-and-white woodcut in Sichuan.
