This article studies the characters of the block-printed edition in the Tang and Five Dynasties.The paper includes four chapters: introduction,conclusion,appendix and text.The introduction is mainly about the current research situation,including the research of the Tang and Five Dynasties' Chinese block-printed books and the research of the regular script font during this time,as well as the research content,research value and significance.The first chapter introduces the block-printed books of Tang and Five Dynasties,which have been spread to the present.We sort out the related materials on the basis of previous papers and add some new in this part.The second chapter is a comparative study of the characters of the block-printed books in the Tang and Five Dynasties.Taking The Kaicheng Stone Scriptures(????)as a reference,from the three aspects:strokes,components and style of writing,this part studies the general features in this time.The third chapter is a comparative study of the characters from the manuscript to the carving copy.This section compares the writings of Ershisi Xiao Yazuowen(???????)with the printed edition,to explore the relationship between handwriting and printing characters,as well,discuss the influence of woodblock printing process on characters.The fourth chapter is the research on the standardization of the lettering in Tang and Five Dynasties.The Vajracchedika-sutra(868)and The Annotated Calendar(877)were selected as representatives,to discuss the standard degree and related problems of two different types of text.At last,we select some representative printing characters of the Tang and Five Dynasties,make a form and attach it to the appendix.
