Introduction: this chapter includes three parts as follows, first, the significance of the paper and the current condition of the subject; second, the brief introduction of the research methods; third, the source of language material.Chapter One is "the term of Variant Chinese Characters: the first part is the description of the term of Variant Chinese Characters, and the explanation of this term, which is based on the contemporaneousness and the connection of pronunciation and meaning and the relation of Variant Chinese Characters and "word". The second part is the criterion of the sort.Chapter Two is "Yi Gou": this chapter will make researches on diverse types of "Yi Gou", including the differences of word-formation and the increase and change of the ideographic members and the change of the phonographic members and the change of notation member and the compositive "Yi Gou".Chapter Three is "Yi Xie": this chapter will make researches on diverse types of "Yi Xie", including Strokes-Yi Xie and Members-Yi Xie. And will specially distinguish "Members-Yi Xie" from "Yi Gou".Chapter Four is "the causation of Variant Chinese Characters in block-printed novelistic edition from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty": this chapter will analyse the causation of Variant Chinese Characters in block-printed novelistic edition from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty on the cognizance and the increase of separation of meanings and the Phonetic Loan Characters and the development of the disyllable and the random of writing, which is based on Chinese characters itself.Chapter Five is "the characteristic of Variant Chinese Characters in block-printed novelistic edition from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty": this chapter will sum up the characteristic of Variant Chinese Characters in block-printed novelistic edition from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty on inherited attribute and the manifoldness of predigestion and the complication and the notation member and its productive forces and the ideographic character of the Variant Chinese Characters.Conclusion: this chapter will conclude the function and influence of the research of Variant Chinese Characters in block-printed novelistic edition from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty on simplified character and compiling a dictionary.
