| Educated: A Memoir,which was published by the Windmill Books Institute in November,2018,is a biography written by Tara Westover and the author of it is a U.S.Writer and the Doctor of History from Cambridge University.The book mainly summarizes Tara Westover’s tortuous growth and study experience.According to the author’s translation of chapters 17 to 22 of Educated,the first part of the practice report includes the source of translation materials,brief introduction of translation content,and the importance of translation projects.Secondly,the process of translation is presented,which includes the pre-translation preparation stage,the translation stage and the post-translation review stage.Then the translation theory of semantic translation and communicative translation is marked.At the same time,the relations between biography translation and the theories are also introduced.The next part is case analysis,which illustrates the translation methods used in this report and the difficulties encountered in the translation process.Solutions are also presented in this part.In the end,the translation practice is summarized in order to sum up her gains and shortcomings.The author has got a deeper understanding of semantic translation and communicative translation theory from this translation practice,which enriched her translation experience and strengthened her translation practice ability.Meanwhile,the author hopes this report can provide some help for the translation of biography in the future. |
