A Report On The Translation Of Zhenguoguo Series Of Chinese Cultural Geography Picture Books

Picture books,with their colorful and vivid combination of pictures and words,are deeply loved by the audience and can serve as a powerful medium for cultural communication.With the deepening of cultural exchanges among countries,the translation and introduction of excellent Chinese picture books to foreign markets has become a powerful measure in response to the strategy of going global in national culture,is also consistent with the call of President xi jinping to "tell China's story well and spread China's voice".Therefore,in order to accumulate translation experience and improve translation level,the author has translated a series of Chinese cultural geography picture books independently.This report will describe the translation practice in detail,summarize the problems and perplexities encountered in practice,explore the causes of problems,and propose solutions in practice.In this report the author is about to introduce the background and significance of the translation practice,introduces the source text,and lists the overall framework of the practice report;the translation process,involving three aspects: pre-translation preparation,translation processing and post-translation proofreading and the theoretical guiding principle of translation practice,namely Susan Bassnett's theory of cultural translation equivalence,which advocates functional equivalence through cultural transformation.In regard to the translation of cultural elements,in order to achieve the translation with the original "consensus on the function,the translator has to substantially adapt the original".The later part is about the problems and solutions in translation.The biggest problem lies in the translation of all kinds of culture-loaded words.This report analyzes the problems encountered by the author and the solutions from four aspects: material culture-loaded words,language culture-loaded words,religious culture-loaded words and social culture-loaded words.The last part is summary of experience.Through this translation practice,the author has a deeper understanding of translation theory,translation ability has been improved,but also realize that there is still a long way to go before becoming an excellent translator,thus she still needs to study hard and practice with more efforts.
