A Report On Translation Of Five Stars

The practice report is based on the translation of the first two chapters of Five Stars,an informative text published in 2018 by American communication expert Carmine Gallo.The book presents a large number of examples about the art of persuasion.The language is concise,refined and logical.In order to reproduce these characteristics and styles during the translation process,the Skopos Theory is chosen as the guide and the corresponding translation techniques are adopted.Based on Vermeer's Skopos Theory,this translation report analyzes in detail the typical cases in the first two chapters of Five Stars from the Skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule.Under the Skopos rule,four-character idioms are used and the technique of amplification is employed to achieve the communicative purpose of the translation.Under the coherence rule,the techniques of omission and conversion are mainly used to ensure intra-textual coherence of the target text,which is easy to be accepted by the target readers.Under the fidelity rule,the techniques of extension and division are chosen to realize inter-textual coherence and faithfulness between the original text and the translation.Through the detailed analysis of translation examples and the flexible application of translation theory and techniques,the translation can better achieve the communicative purpose in the cultural context of the target text,which is relatively smooth,natural and faithful to the original text.This report on the translation practice will provide reference for the future translation of such materials.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 30...
