A Report On The Interpreting Of Run-on Sentence In The One Thousand And One Nights Reading Program From The Perspective Of Relevance Theory

Relevance theory emphasizes cognitive principles and communicative principles in interpreting.The purpose of interpretation is to express the target language accurately through the express and reasoning of the source language.The relevance theory is great significance to the interpretation of run-on sentence in Chinese.Chinese emphasizes parataxis while English emphasizes hypotaxis.In the process of mutual transformation,we must always pay attention to the differences between the two languages.Chinese run-on sentence is a typical embodiment of parataxis and the differences between the two languages should be fully considered in the process of Chinese-English translation.In order to fully grasp the meaning of Chinese and clarify the semantic logic.Translating Chinese into the target language,we need to use a variety of means of conjunction,accurately grasp the tense,so that the expression of the target language more in line with the English focus on the characteristics of hypotaxis.This paper summarizes the following three characteristics of the run-on sentences in GU WEN GUAN ZHI in the program "one thousand and one nights" : unclear subject,unclear logical relationship and reasonable choice of the target language.Based on the cognitive principle of relevance theory,this paper makes explicit and reasoning the subject determination and logical relation of the source language to seek the best relation between the source language and the target language.Reasonable selection of target language based on the principle of communication in order to better fit the characteristics of hypotaxis in English.Therefore,the corresponding solutions to the three major features of discourse are as follows: clear subject,logical association and reasonable choice of target language.As a practical report on literary interpretation,this report is a very good accumulation of experience and fills the gap in the type of literature handed over by translators.Through in-depth analysis of cases and connection with theories,I have a deeper understanding of the study of run-on sentence.At the same time,I hope I can make some contribution to the same type of interpretation work in the future.
