Vocabulary teaching is an important part of teaching Chinese as a second language,which connects sentences and morphemes.There are different types of pedagogues as well as approaches which is relatively developed,three commonly accepted are word method,character-based method and morpheme pedagogy.Considering the percentage of cultural factors in textbooks,culture introduction accepted as an indispensable part in this thesis.Folk culture is becoming popular in vocabulary teaching for its closest relationship to daily life.Based on the research about vocabulary teaching,this thesis analyses related teaching approaches and refers to cultural words in the textbooks.It tries to lead folk culture into vocabulary teaching,choose and spread knowledge typically and specifically for combining cultures with vocabulary teaching.Besides,the way to introduce folk culture varies according to students' Chinese level.For developing learners' ability of using Chinese flexibly,this thesis gives suggestions about approaches and contents in vocabulary teaching,such as choosing appropriate contents to explain and teaching approaches according to different levels,which can benefit vocabulary teaching.
