A Study On The Patient Prepositional Sentence And Related Word Order In The Tiantai Dialect

This paper seeks to explore the basic word order,distribution as well as the factors influencing patient prepositional sentence in the Tiantai dialectFirstly,The paper begins by exploring the various factors influencing semantic patients the Tiantai dialect.When analyzed from the perspective of word class and animacy,we find out that different verbs and the animacy level of the grammatical constituents of the target affect word order in patient prepositional sentences in the Tiantai dialect.In addition,sentence order is also affected by the whether the sentence is realistic,the referentiality of the target is generic,fixed or made up of indefinite components.Among them,the indefinite components are not accepted in most patient prepositional sentences in the Wu dialect.There are two main sentence orders:"noun+quantitative phrase" and "quantitative phrase+noun".The presence or absence of non-target components after the verb and different sentence types also limits word order.Secondly,Compared the Ningbo dialect,quantitative phrases in the Tiantai dialect can be separated.This is however hardly the case in the Ningbo dialect although patient preposition is a common phenomenon in both dialects.When compared with the Wenzhou dialect,we found out that the phenomenon of grammatical patients is for less in the Wenzhou dialect.Thirdly,This paper also introduces the comparative sentence order and the special word order of the dynamic complement structure related to the patient prepositional sentences in the Tiantai dialect.Finaly,The paper concludes by summarizing the causes of this phenomenon in the Tiantai dialect as well as existing problems.After analyzing the phenomenon of patient prepositional sentences in the Tiantai dialect,the paper arrived at the following conclusions:Firstly,in the Wu dialect,patient preposition is more frequently used in the Tiantai dialect than in other Wu dialects and the distribution is more extensive.There are mainly SPV,PSV,SBVQ and other word orders,but the use is still limited.Secondly,the phenomenon of semantic patients in Tiantai dialect is the result of various factors such as historical,geographical and pragmatic factors.Thirdly,patient prepositional sentences in the Tiantai dialect don't follow the SOV word order.
