In recent years,the Ministry of Education lays stress on the significance of Information Communication Technology-Aided Education.The Ministry of Education issued the implementation plan for accelerating the modernization of Education(2018-2022),which proposed the strategic task of “accelerating the reform of education in the information age,promoting the reform and innovation of the organizational form and management mode of education”.In recent years,the combination of online and classroom teaching has been an important reform of education in universities.The blended teaching starts in the guidance of teachers,and focuses on how to help students get the most optimal learning effect.The combination of online learning and offline class brings college teachers opportunities for professional development,but also challenges.They need to update teaching idea,teaching mode,teaching evaluation and reflect how to seek for development in universities in new era timely.This study intends to investigate the development of college English teachers' teaching ability in the MOOC-based blended teaching in order to offer suggestions to the college English teachers' implementation of blended teaching.The study is conducted to research seven English teachers of one university who participated in MOOC-based blended teaching.The classroom observation,interviews to the teachers in order to investigate the development of the teachers' teaching ability,and the questionnaire and interviews to students are adopted to learn about the development of English teachers' teaching ability in carrying out MOOC-based blended teaching from another way.The findings are as follows.The three aspects of teaching ability,namely,teaching design ability,teaching implementation ability and assessment ability have improved in the process of blended teaching.However,some aspects such as the ability of using textbook properly,teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and questioning skill do not improve.Moreover,the teachers still face some problems in blended teaching,including the students' autonomy is too low to learn the online teaching videos carefully.And some students' ideas do not change,so they seldom participate in the class activities.It is also founded that the teachers need to receive systematical training to improve their teaching.Drawing on the analysis and discussion to the data,there are two implications.Firstly,the colleges should improve the training of MOOC-based blended teaching.The colleges should offer training to make the teachers use the platform and other teaching software flexibly.Also,the colleges should organize the teachers to learn how to carry out MOOC-based blended teaching.Secondly,the teachers should increase their self-improvement awareness.For one thing,the teachers need to enhance communication,teaching and research among the colleagues.For another,the teachers should reflect on their teaching continuously to make the teaching more effective.Furthermore,the teachers should improve their autonomous learning competence.
