Emotional expression is an important part of emotional intelligence,which refers to the ability to use verbal or non-verbal methods to help individuals transform internal emotional experience into external behavioral performance in order to establish relationships with others.College students are developing self-consciousness and identity In the key period of establishment,the freshman year is the starting point of university life.At this stage,freshmen are urgently required to increase their understanding of themselves through interaction with the outside world.The level of emotional expression determines the quality of communication and effectiveness and lack of emotional expression ability not only affect normal communication,but also further affect the freshmen's interpersonal relationship,physical and mental health,school adaptation,etc.Therefore,this study aims to explore the freshmen's emotional expression,life events,and the current status of school adaptability and the relationship between the three;based on this,a targeted emotional expression psychological counseling program is designed to improve the freshmen's emotional expression ability and school adaptability through group counseling.Study 1 used the cluster sampling method to sample 700 full-time undergraduate freshmen in colleges and universities in Hebei Province for questionnaire surveys,of which678 were valid data.Study 2 chose to fill in the questionnaire and leave contact information45 people willing to participate in group counseling conducted an intervention experiment with 15 students each in the experimental group,the control group,and the blank group.Targeted emotional expression group-assisted intervention was performed 8 times in the experimental group,and the control group performed routine intervention 8 times,which did not include the emotional expression intervention content,and the blank group no intervention.Through analysis,the following results were obtained:(1)There are significant gender differences in freshmen's positive emotional expression,negative emotional expression,negative emotional suppression,negativeemotional expression intensity,total emotional expression scores,and satisfaction in school adaptation.There are significant differences in residence between school stress factors,interpersonal relationship adaptation in school adaptation,campus life adaptation,emotional adaptation,self-adaptation,satisfaction,and total school adaptation scores;freshmen's negative emotional expression intensity,learning in life events there are significant differences under the only child or not in stress factors,loss factors,life event total factors,school adaptation dimensions and total scores.(2)The total score of freshmen's life events is significantly positively related to the total score of emotional expression;the total scores of life events is significantly negatively related to the total scores of school adaptation;the positive emotional expression is significantly related to each dimension of school adaptation;the relationship between life events and school adjustment level is regulated by the level of emotional expression.(3)Through targeted group psychological counseling activities,the level of emotional expression and school adaptation of freshmen can be significantly improved.
