The Principle Of The Five Elements is a monograph on numerology written by Xiao Ji in the early Sui Dynasty. As its name implies, the book comprehensively summarizes and explains the theory about the five elements including metal, wood, water, fire and earth, which were obeyed by the previous generation to explore the mutually reinforcing and mutually exclusive relationship of the whole world. The book is divided into five volumes, and is subdivided into twenty-four sections according to the twenty-four solar terms, including the explanation of the related concepts of the five elements, and the close connection between the five elements and the theories of astronomy, astrology, divination,Qi and medicine,The influence of "the five elements" thought on the whole social culture and its important role in the operation of all things in the world. The book's extensive and deep analysis of the theory of "the five elements" has become a valuable wealth in the study of ancient Chinese numerology. The reason why the five elements theory can be fully invented in the five elements theory is largely due to Xiao Ji's extensive solicitation and collection of different kinds of literature in the previous generation.According to statistics, there are more than 100 kinds of documents, and more than 600 specific ones.Among these documents, divination documents account for a significant proportion,as many as 30 kinds and 110 pieces.Chenwei documents are closely related to the theory of “ Yin Yang” explaining the two charators of something positive and negtive, which defines the two opposing sides of the world as sonng as possible.Meanwhile,Chenwei is also rooted in the theroy of“the five elements”.These Chenwei documents become the indispensable theoretical support for the author to comprehensively interpret the theory of "the five elements",and also highlight the strong academic value. When the documents of Chenwei were formally formed in the Han Dynasty,Emperor Guang Wu of the Eastern Han Dynasty determined 81 documents to show the world, which is the most comprehensive text form of the documents of Chenwei. However, since the Eastern Han Dynasty, especially in the Three Kingdoms and Six Dynasties, due to the successive rulers' repeated orders to ban the destruction of the atlas, and the destruction and intervention of war or political struggle and other factors,Chenwei documents have been lost seriously in this period,so that by the end of the Ming Dynasty they were on the edge of being lost. Therefore,a large number of Chenwei documents cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements really made an important contribution to the collection of lost works in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and directly inspired some of the collection of lost works. In view of this, the article will explain the Wei text quoted in the five elements from six aspects. The first chapter mainly discusses the basic situation, style characteristics and literature value of the weft cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements, which is divided into two sections. The first section discusses the specific types and items cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements, and points out the Chenwei items noted by Zheng Xuan and Song Jun.on this basis,it further analyzes the academic background of Xiao Ji's massive citation of Chenwei. At the same time,in view of the fact that the number of "spring and autumn latitudes" cited by it is mostly, this section also needs to analyze the reasons;the second section discusses the style characteristics of The Principle Of The Five Elements and analyzes its literature value. The second chapter mainly discusses the situation of the continuous quotation of the Chenwei text and the classics and sub books cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements, and analyzes the relationship between them in terms of text, which is divided into three sections. The first section analyzes the text relationship between Chenwei and Chenwei cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements, including progressive, post complementary, sequential and parallel, and explains them respectively;the second section analyzes the text content relationship between Chenwei and Confucian classics cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements, mainly reflected in the text content of Chenwei and Confucian classics, respectively reflected in the ancient times The third section analyzes the relationship between the weft and the philosophers' books in the text content, including three aspects:Chenwei interpretation of philosophers' books, mutual verification of Chenwei andphilosophers' books, and philosophers 'books interpretation of weft. The third chapter mainly explores the value of language and text exegesis of the weft cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements, which is divided into three sections. The first section discusses the method and value of "Description Description" embodied in the weft quoted in The Principle Of The Five Elements;the second section discusses the method and value of "indicating the meaning boundary" embodied in the weft quoted in The Principle Of The Five Elements;the third section discusses the method and value of "direct training" embodied in the weft quoted in the book. The fourth chapter mainly states the influence of Chenwei cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements on the collection of lost Chenwei documents, which is divided into three sections. The first section discusses the influence of the weft cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements on the lost collection of Qi Wei by Zhao Zai Han;the second section discusses the influence of the weft cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements on the lost collection of Huang Shi Yi Shu Kao edited by Huang Shi;the third section discusses the influence of the weft cited in The Principle Of The Five Elements on the lost collection of Yu Han Shan Fang Ji Yi Shu edited by Wang Ren Jun.The fifth chapter mainly explores Dong Zhong Shu's theory of "heaven and man's induction" reflected in the weft cited in the five elements, which is divided into three sections. The first section discusses the related content of Dong Zi's theory of "heaven and man's induction" reflected in the quoted article of the five elements, which involves the theory of "man and vice days" and the theory of "the same kind moves",and gives a separate explanation;the second section mainly discusses the five elements included by Dong Zi's theory of "emperor's power and God's grant" reflected in the cited article includes the theory of "three unification and three integrity" and the theory of "The doctrine of five-virtue circulation",and analyzes it.The sixth chapter mainly explores the explanation of the related contents of the theory system of "the five elements",which is divided into three sections. The first section discusses the interpretation of the relevant mathematical knowledge of theweft cited in the five elements, including the generated number, the old number, the numeral system rule and the influence of the mathematical principle on some fields;the second section discusses many concepts of "the five elements" contained in the weft cited in the five elements, including "the five flavors","the five colors" and "the five cardinal virtues";the third section discusses the five elements cited in the five elements Wei Wen's explanation of the related contents of the science of the "local skills" contained in the "the five elements",and focused the discussion on the field of traditional Chinese medicine. Therefore, from a comprehensive point of view, the weft articles quoted in the great significance of The Principle Of The Five Elements are of multi-level and multi-dimensional research value, such as literature, language and word exegesis, and philosophy and mathematics,at the same time,it retains some valuable contents such as social culture, ancient mythology and legend, and human geography around the time of the emergence of divination, which, together with other documents, becomes an important basis for Xiao Ji to explain the gist of the book. What's more, these all-encompassing Chenwei in the great righteousness of The Principle Of The Five Elements precisely embody the character of Chenwei itself, which contains many kinds of conceptual knowledge in various fields, and also has inestimable guiding significance for people to further study Chenwei at present, inspired us from the overall perspective for the construction of the literature system of divination.
