As the most original life science with enormous advantages of intellectual property and economy, Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) has become pursuit focus for many countries and regions. Consequently, international standard of TCM, as the strongest guarantee means of economic benefits, has attracted widespread attention. The TCM standardization work obtained the plenteous achievements with extensive participation of International Organizations, the government apparatus and many specialists and scholars. In2007, the Western Pacific Region of WHO promulgated International Standard Terminologies on Traditional Medicine in the Western Pacific (IST). And in the same year, International Standard Chinese-English Basic Nomenclature of Chinese Medicine (ISN) was issued by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. The coexistence of these two standards reduces the scientificity of TCM to some content, and also new disputes have been brought. Therefore, harmonized TCM standard is essential respecting for the necessity of uniform standard for world and China. In this paper, by employing Hu Gengshen’s translation approach of adaptation and selection, the randomly selected500terms from IST and ISN (except the terms of Chinese materia medica, Chinese formulae and acupuncture) in five aspects (the basic theories of Chinese Medicine, the diagnostics of Chinese Medicine, the treatment of Chinese Medicine, the clinical diseases of Chinese Medicine, and others) have been comparatively analyzed from the perspective of language, culture and communication. And best translations have been pionted out based on above analysis. Results indicate that the general frame of English-Chinese translation of the TCM terminology is proposed as "A transform","Three Dimensions" and "Several translation methods".Traditional medicine originates from China, China therefore should predominate in the standardization of TCM, and further guarantee the maximum presence of Chinese medical features. By comprehensively comparative analysis on IST and ISN, the present study aims to offer some favor and references for the utilization and further studies on standardization work of TCM Terminologies translation in the new age.
