Auerbach’s Research On Expressive Painting Language

As one of the most important expressionist painters in Britain,Frank Auerbach takes characters and landscapes as the subject matter,forms a vivid form language with a sense of sculpture with strong and personalized brushstrokes and color blocks,records the real things and expresses the reality of the real existence.Focusing on the formal language in the painter’s works,this paper analyzes the reasons for the formation of expressive language in Auerbach’s paintings from the perspective of his life experience and his academic career by using the methods of literature research and image analysis and taking expressionist painting as the starting point.By the linear thinking,bas-relief of Auerbach work rich layers of thick texture,color of performance and the space construction of concrete analysis of the painting is in a formal language,and to explore Auerbach combining traditional art spirit and modern artistic language,draw characters with strong expressive form of language and the inner landscape is true.Through the study of Auerbach’s painting language,the artistic value of Auerbach’s painting is explored,and new inspirations are given to the author in the aspects of brushwork,spatial structure and emotional expression.
