Analysis Of Singing And Character Building Of Wang Sheng In Opera Painted Skin

The dissertation takes the new opera Painted Skin created by Hao Weiya,a Chinese composer,as the research object and takes The Long Past,a section of this opera as an example which is sung by a mezzo-soprano who plays the role of Wang Sheng.By studying the plot,characters of the roles,and musical characteristics of the play,this article discusses the unique charm of mezzo-soprano in Chinese opera and considers the "new" concept of the future development of Chinese opera.The article consists of three chapters.The first chapter introduces the background of the creation of Painted Skin and analyzes the basic musical characteristics.The second chapter includes the synopsis of Painted Skin and an analysis of the personality characteristics of the main characters.The third chapter analyzes Wang Sheng’s section The Long Past from three aspects – the lyrics,music,and singing and puts forward personal artistic insights from the perspectives of singing skills and dramatic images.
