A Study Of Teaching Model Of STELLAR Curriculum In Singapore Primary Schools

In the 21 st century,English education is not only a kind of language education,but also an important way for Singapore to cultivate the comprehensive ability of the new generation.The STELLAR curriculum of primary schools in Singapore has developed a well-established teaching model,which provides important support for the quality of English teaching and the development of children in primary schools.A systematic review of the framework and successful experience of STELLAR curriculum teaching model in Singapore primary schools can provide reference and inspiration for the practice of English teaching in primary schools in China.The teaching model of STELLAR curriculum in primary schools in Singapore consists of five parts: theoretical basis,teaching objectives,teaching methods,teaching strategies and teaching evaluation.STELLAR curriculum is based on constructive learning theory,development theory,and student-centered theory.Teaching objectives include language teaching objectives,emotion teaching objectives and ability objectives.The teaching methods include communicative teaching method,game teaching method and task-based teaching method.The teaching is carried out with different strategies for the lower grade of primary school and the middle and upper grades respectively.Teaching evaluation mainly contains formative evaluation,summative assessment and holistic evaluation.The teaching model of STELLAR curriculum concentrates on the improvement of students' comprehensive quality,learning interest,autonomous learning ability and reading level,but there are still some problems in the implementation of the model of the STELLAR curriculum,such as limited promotion scope,short teacher training time,insufficient monitoring and scattered teaching staff,which need to be further improved.Based on the real primary school English teaching in China,our country can draw lessons from the beneficial experience of Singapore primary school STELLAR curriculum teaching mode.For example,respect student's subjectivity,raise the students ability of language communication,implement the evaluation way of promoting diversity and improve the external support system,promoting the quality of primary school English education in China.
