With the increasing strength and international status of China in recent years,Chinese language learning has gradually attracted the attention of the British people,and Chinese language teaching has gradually developed in Britain.However,through the author's investigation,it is found that there is a lack of clear Chinese syllabus and systematic teaching materials in Chinese teaching in primary schools in Britain.In view of this,the author tries to apply "thematic teaching" to the primary Chinese classroom in the UK,and tries to explore a teaching model suitable for the primary Chinese classroom in the UK,in order to solve the problems of Chinese teaching in the UK primary schools and promote the development of Chinese teaching in the UK.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part is the introduction.Firstly,this paper introduces the reasons for the topic selection and significance.Secondly,it summarizes the meaning and characteristics of theme-based teaching based on the author's search and review of relevant literature,and then it discusses the current research status and methods of theme-based teaching.The second part is the research basis of the thematic teaching design of elementary Chinese class in UK.It mainly includes theoretical basis and practical basis.The theoretical basis is the theory of multiple intelligences and the constructivist learning theory,while the practical basis is mainly the feasibility analysis of the primary Chinese teaching classes in UK,the learning characteristics of British primary students and the teaching environment of the school where the author teaches.The third part is the thematic teaching design of English elementary Chinese class,which is also the core part of this paper.Firstly,it discusses the selection and analysis of the themes,then briefly describes the basic steps of theme-based teaching,then pondered and explored the relevant elements in the teaching design,and made the corresponding teaching design and teaching evaluation according to the relatedconcepts of theme-based teaching.The fourth part is about the summary and reflection of theme-based teaching.Based on the implementation effect of teaching cases,the author summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of theme-based teaching,reflects on theme-based teaching and puts forward appropriate teaching suggestions to teachers of Chinese as a foreign language in order to contribute to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.
