Warring States Ancient Writing Dictionary by He Linyi(short for Zhandian),which successfully studied various kinds of characters used during the Warring Sates period, mainly concentrating on the shape,as well as the meaning and pronunciation, largely enriches the research field on ancient characters. This dictionary, subtitled as “Shengxi”,clearly demonstrates its first focus on the analysis of shape, meaning, together with its second on the pronunciation.Besides,it is also involved with the origination from oracle bone and bronze inscription, thoroughly arranging the ancient characters in order. However, not until in March,1996 did it come out.Later, out of expectation,in March,2007,He Linyi passed away. That leads to the absence of many new materials from the dictionary, including Guodian,Shangbo, and Tsinghua Bamboo Slips. As we know, without materials, related researches can't be conducted. Therefore,in order to better study the Warring States characters,it's indispensable to master new yet excellent materials on the ancient characters, especially those relevant to characters used during the Warring States. The purposes of this paper are the followings: one is to correct mistakes in Zitou,Moxie,Origin,Cili, and Explanation from Hou to Yang part, the other is to add some lost shapes to Hou to Yang part.Out of respect and admiration,we offer the revision and supplement to this dictionary, aimed at exercising its important roles and rendering some help to the later academics.
