Abstract/Summary:
The zhongyong thinking,as the essence of Confucian culture, profoundly affects the behavior and principles of Chinese behavior. The individual’s aggressiveness is closely related to the cognitive processing of the thinking mode. The more positive the cognitive mode, the less the individual will engage in aggressive behavior. As a unique product of Confucianism, the doctrine of the zhongyong thinking which advocates dual use, will have a great impact on the individual’s aggressiveness.Aggressiveness is divided into explicit aggressiveness and implicit aggressiveness. Not only are there differences in the way of expression, they are also affected by the zhongyong thinking.Forgiveness is a process of constructing individuals’ psychological factors such as self-cognition and emotion in a certain situation. In this study, the zhongyong thinking will change the individual’s cognition and emotion to form an individual’s positive understanding of the forgiveness situation, thereby changing the individual’s aggressive behavior.Based on information processing theory, this article explores the relationship between zhongyong thinking, forgiveness, implicit aggressiveness, and explicit aggressiveness through three studies,as well as group counselling based on dialectical behavior therapy and related research to verify the influence of zhongyong thinking on explicit aggressiveness.Study 1 explores the relationship among zhongyong thinking and forgiveness and explicit aggression.A total of 442 college students were selected and researched using the Zhongyong Thinking Scale,Aggressive Behavior Scale and Forgiveness Scale. The results showed that:(1)There are no significant differences above zhongyong thinking level of college students in terms of gender, whether they are the only children and their birthplace.(2)There is a significant negative correlation between the level of zhongyong thinking and explicit aggressiveness of college students.(3)There is a negative correlation between forgiveness and explicit aggressiveness.(4)zhongyong thinking is positively related to forgiveness.(5)Forgiveness plays a part of the mediating role between zhongyong thinking and explicit aggression.Study 2 explores the effect of zhongyong thinking on implicit aggression from the perspective of implicit cognition.Participants were divided into 35 students in thehigh-zhongyong group and the low-zhongyong group in the experiment. The experimental method was used to test the differences in implicit aggression among subjects with different zhongyong thinking. The results manifested that there was no significant difference in the implicit aggression between subjects with different zhongyong thinking levels, indicating that implicit aggression,as an implicit attitude,In terms of explicit aggression, the expression of implicit aggression is hidden and its structure is more stable, and it is not easy to be affected by its external factors.Study 3 uses group counseling programs to explore the effects of the zhongyongn thinking intervention program on the zhongyong thinking and explicit aggression of college students. The intervention group and control group were set up,and 30 people in each group were administered once a week for a total of seven weeks of intervention. The results showed that: through group counseling intervention, the level of zhongyong thinking in the experimental group was significantly improved, and the apparent aggression was reduced.Through the above three studies,it is found that the zhongyong thinking helps reduce the level of aggression. This research result has important theoretical and practical significance for the adjustment of the zhongyong thinking to the aggressiveness.
