New comic is a new form of comic that sprung up in Japan and the west after WWII.It is characterized by long narrative stories.In these countries,a representation style with national features has been formed since this new comic came into being in the 1940 s.However,in China,the new comic started later than those countries,hence the new Chinese comic scribe failed to illustrate the characteristics of national culture of China in their works.Recently,with the renaissance of traditional Chinese culture,"ancient style" comics also appear,along with the appearance of "ancient style" poems and songs.But if you explore them in depth,you will realize that these works are more or less influenced by new Japanese comic,which is also part of the East Asian culture.The reason for this is that the majority of Chinese ancient style comics inherited the visual elements of new Japanese comic,whether in terms of pattern of manifestation or aesthetic style.They lack systematic understanding of the traditional Chinese visual elements.This paper breaks down the visual elements of new Japanese comic into"box dividing","storyboard","mimetic word","dialogue box","role model","scene design","effect line","box breaking",etc,analyzes them,and compares the traditional Chinese visual elements in Men with Sword(Chinese:??????)and An Actor's Journal(Chinese:???????),thus exploring the methods of applying traditional Chinese visual elements into new comic s and providing ways for fulfilling the following objective:to help new Chinese comic to become independent and establish its own style.
