In recent years,“artificial intelligence(AI)” has begun to creep into people's daily lives. The widespread use of machine translation software and the increasingly important role of computer aided translation(CAT)in professional translation practice illustrate the above phenomenon. However, machine translation can only deal with the lexical meaning and syntactic structure mechanically according to the corresponding procedures, and cannot convey the implications of semantic potentials. Therefore, with the development of AI in machine learning, improving the ability of machine translation system to process natural language has become an important research topic in related fields. In view of this, for the purpose of introducing the latest research results in this field for the researchers of machine translation in China, chapter 3 of Translation,Brains and the Computer is chosen as the source text of this translation project because it describes how to deal with language ambiguity in machine translation under the guidance of psycholinguistic theory.Based on translation practice, this translation report first describes the development, application and future trend of machine translation. Then the second part introduces the three stages of pre-translation preparation, translation and post-translation proofreading, and analyzes the linguistic features of the source text. The third part of the report mainly includes the analysis of translation Examples under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence theory.Various translation skills(Literal Translation,Free Translation,Division and Conversion)are combined together in order to solve the crucial problems encountered in the translation process, such as terminology and French words. Finally,in the reflection of the gains and losses of this translation practice, the basic principles of technical text translation and the supplementary role of translation software in human translation are summarized and reviewed.
