A Report On Translation Of Kazakhstan Today(Experts) Under Guidance Of The Translation Variation Theory

Kazakhstan is a main country in Central Asia as well as the first stop for the construction of the Belt and Road initiative to the west.Though significant geopolitical status the country has,its related research is still poor.In 2010,Kazakhstan Today published a comprehensive introduction to the status quo in Kazakhstan,and there is no Chinese translation yet.In order to enhance Chinese people's understanding of Kazakhstan,the translation of this book is of significance.As a political text,this book has three characteristics.First,its sentences have a longer average length;second,it uses a large number of nominal structures;third,it uses conjunction frequently.However,part of the text needs to be improved in logic,such as reducing the listing of facts with weak correlation in the same paragraph,dividing meaning groups reasonably,and adjusting the inversion of causality.This report is based on the translation of 1-7 sections in Chapter 3 of Kazakhstan Today,applying some translation means under the translation variation theory to study the translation of foreign policy in lexical and textual level.At the lexical level,the translator uses addition to translate some policies,organizations,proper nouns,etc.;the translator applies adaption translation to translate unequivalent information in the original text,unequivalent expressions between Chinese and English,repeated words.At the textual level,combination is adopted for the excessively loose sentences or paragraphs structure;edited translation is adopted for the unclear sentence structure and logic;reduction is adopted for the redundant information.The author of this report believes that when translating this source text,it is necessary to consider its seriousness.The translation has to convey information accurately,be logical,and use words correctly.At the same time,the reader's reading experience should be taken into consideration;the unfamiliar parts of the translation should be explained clearly to ensure a fluent translation.
