Amplification In The Translation Of Scientific Text

This report is based on the translation of Climate Change in California,which analyzes the status quo of climate change and policies and actions for addressing climate change.The translation of the book aims to help Chinese people to learn about responses to climate change in the U.S.and shed some light for the translation of meteorological science and technology.Amplification strategies are frequently used in the translation of EST texts so as to guarantee the quality of target text and help target readers accurately understand the contents of the original.Based on equivalence theory,this report focuses on amplification strategies and explores the application of these techniques in EST texts.Case analysis shows that it is necessary to adopt techniques such as semantic amplification,grammatical amplification and logical amplification in order to achieve equivalence between source texts and target texts.The report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter makes a brief introduction to the book and the author.It also introduces the necessity of using amplification and the objectives of the report.Chapter Two mainly describes the translation process.Chapter Three mainly reviews previous researches about equivalence theory and amplification.The case is analyzed in Chapter Four,including the amplification of translation from semantic perspective,grammatical perspective,and logical perspective.Chapter Five focuses on the findings and limitations of this report.
