The Revolution of 1911 was an inevitable result of the historical development of China's modern society and had a profound effect on the historical process of China's modernization. As the first social revolution with a truly modern significance in China, the Revolution of 1911 has always been widely concerned by the academic community.Since the new period, some scholars have begun to study the 1911 Revolution from the perspective of modernization and have obtained a lot of research results. However, looking at the existing research results, there are relatively few systematic achievements in the study of the Revolution of 1911 from the perspective of political modernization. In particular, the 1911 Revolution's new design of China's early political modernization and subsequent setbacks and crises are rarely discussed. Therefore, from the perspective of political modernization, this article revisits the initiation of the Revolution of 1911 and the early modernization of China in order to comprehensively and objectively understand and grasp the historical merits of the 1911 Revolution. This article is divided into three parts to study the 1911 Revolution from the perspective of political modernization. The first part examines the historical inevitability of the Revolution of 1911 from the macro perspective of the process of world modernization. The occurrence of the Revolution of 1911 was not only a response to the“challenges” of the outside world, but also an inevitable result of the internal modernization factor spreading in Chinese society. The second part expounds the new design of the Chinese social and political system by the Revolution of 1911.Including the implementation of the bourgeois republican system, the state system implements the“five-power separation”;protects the people's democratic rights through “sovereignty in the people” and “the principle of the rule of law”;and implements the “two-party system” or “multiparty system”.which opens China's door to early political modernization. In the third part, after analyzing the fruits of the victory of the Revolution of 1911 and being stolen by Yuan Shikai.a series of turbulent phenomena in Chinese politics have demonstrated the setback and crisis brought by the incomplete revolution to China's early modernization. These setbacks have severed China's non-military reconstruction of democracy. The Republican constitutional road has provided newopportunities for the later exploration of China's modernization road.In short, although the Revolution of 1911 failed to put China on the path of modernization. However, this does not negate the positive role of the 1911 Revolution in China's modernization process. This inevitable social revolution provides an important prerequisite for modernization.Of course,to ensure the true realization of modernization,it is necessary to achieve national independence and the liberation of the people.
