This practice report is based on the author's class interpreting practice for an Australian foreign teacher.On May 13,2019,the author made English-Chinese consecutive interpreting for the freshman majoring in electrical engineering and automation in Shenyang Institute of Engineering for over one hour.The main content is about requirements for making a page turner for musicians and its evaluation criteria.During the process of class interpreting,the author finds that the speaker's teaching content has information redundancy like repeated words and sentences,resulting in problems for interpreter such as large memory load,difficulty in note-taking and disfluent delivery.In order to solve these problems,the interpreter adopts some strategies,such as omission,explanation,adjustment of word order.After the class interpreting,the author analyzes the recording and transcript for reflection.According to the factors related to consecutive interpreting in Gile's Effort Model: listening and comprehension,memory and target language delivery as well as the immediacy and professionalism of class interpreting.The author considers that interpreting strategies such as extracting the core meaning of the source language and reorganizing the information,should also be taken to make the interpreting more concise and fluent.
