This practice report takes the path of interdisciplinary transplantation. The report starts from redundancy, which is an important concept in Information Theory, and explores how to deal with redundant information in Chinese-English escort interpreting.Redundancy is an objective attribute of language.Because Chinese and English have differences in language structure and cultural background in terms of redundant information, bringing obstacles to the interpreting, which is a cross-language and crosscultural communication activity. This report proposes new insights into how to deal with redundancy, how to adjust redundancy, and how to achieve redundancy equivalence in C-E interpreting. This report analyses redundancy at three levels, namely lexical, semantic and syntactical level.By increasing or decreasing redundant information in the source text, the redundancy in the rendition conforms to the requirements of the target audience, hence redundancy equivalence achieves.Specific interpretation methods and techniques are adopted to deal with redundancy-related problems. When the source text is over-redundant,it is recommended to use the method of omission, condensation or substitution. When the source text is under-redundant,interpreters can use the method of amplification, paraphrase or annotation.By adopting these techniques, the interpreter can ensure that the meaning of source text is accurately transmitted.Through selfevaluation and clients' feedback, the author demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the interpretation techniques put forward in this practice report.
